    • History

      The Asan Medical Library was founded in 1989 along with the Asan Medical Center. Since the establishment of the Asan Life Sciences Research Center in 1990, the library has expanded its role for supporting research activities in life sciences as well as in clinical medicine. In 1991, the Asan Medical Library became affiliated with the University of Ulsan College of Medicine.

    • Collection

      The Asan Medical Library collects materials in clinical medicine, the biological sciences, dentistry and nursing. It holds more than 38,000 volumes, subscribes to nearly 16,000 eBook titles. And all the collection can be searched through the library catalog on the library web-site. The library provides access to many resources in electronic format. Electronic journals number more than 8,000 titles and are accessible through the internet. There are many more resources available on a variety of topics, including e-textbooks and web databases. Rare Books and Special Collections contain valuable materials including ’The Classics of Medicine Library Collection’ and early publications from Korean Medical Association in 1940s.

      Library Guide for Visiting Program Members

      • 1. Library Access

        To enter the library, put your AMC ID card (RFID) onto the screen of the Flap Gate System. (No need for additional process if your ID is valid.)
        * Open Hours : Mon.-Fri. 8:30 ~ 22:00 / Sat. 8:30 ~ 17:30 / Sun. Closed

      • 2. Circulation Regulation

        For over 6 months Visiting Program Members only. Please contact cooperation division, Asan Medical International (AMI) for circulation.

        • Borrowing: 5 volumes for 2 weeks
        • Renewal: One time per 1 item (Online or call)
        • Overdue: Borrowing privilege is suspended for the days overdued.
        • Compensation: Lost or damaged books must be compensated with the same items.
      • 3. Access to e-Resources on Library Homepage

        Free access to all the e-resources through the library homepage without ID and PW within AMC district.
        (Need to register if you want to use e-resources out of this area. Please visit the First Reference Desk with your own AMC ID card, in that case.)

    • Fair Use of e-Resources

      Library e-Resources are subject to the publisher's license agreement. Since e-Resources of ASAN Medical Library are protected by copyrights, reasonable use for personal research and learning purposes is acquired. Therefore, we present proper e-Resources policy in order to protect the majority of users and to stabilize e-Resources services. We ask you to follow this policy compliantly.

      • 1. LIMITATIONS

        Downloading and printing e-resources for personal research purposes

      • 2. ACCESS TO E-RESOURCES ON LIBRARY HOMEPAGE
        • Sharing your ID/PW with others
        • Downloading e-resources using another person's ID/PW
        • Downloading excessive amounts of e-resources over research boundaries
        • Downloading the entire contents of a particular issue
        • Using saved or printed material for commercial purposes
        • Printing or downloading e-resources in a short period of time using computer programs
      • 3. SANCTIONS FOR VIOLATION of e-Resources policy

        A violator should submit report and pay fines if requested by the library or publisher.
